Hepatitis And Chronic Liver Disease

The most important cause of chronic liver disease in our country are hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) virus infections.

Both HBV and HCV are important health problems in our country.

If hepatitis B virus infection is chronic, cirrhosis or liver cancer may develop in more than a quarter of these patients. HCV infection is also closely associated with cirrhosis and liver cancer.

More than half of chronic liver disease, cirrhosis and liver cancers are associated with unrecognized viral hepatitis.

TARAN AND KORUN

There is an effective vaccine for HBV.

In Turkey, hepatitis B vaccine has been involved in childhood vaccination since 1998. However, it is very important that all adults over 20 years old who have not been vaccinated should undergo screening tests for HBV.

There is no preventive vaccine for HCV, but early treatment prevents the person from transmitting the disease to his / her loved ones.

Both viruses are most frequently transmitted by blood and sexual contact and from mother to baby.

Therefore, frequent contact with blood; health workers, laboratory workers, male and female hairdressers, health care workers and those who have to take blood products, and those who are in the sexually active age group, and those who are multidrug-drug,high risk" acceptable.

However, there is a high percentage of HBV encounters in our country, which shows that a significant number of them are not aware of the situation.

Therefore, high-risk individuals more often, pregnant women and people aged 20-65 years at least once in their lives HBV should be scanned for.

In addition, blood tests in patients with impaired liver function, rheumatic disease or cancer, such as those who will receive treatment to suppress the immune system HBV should be scanned for.

HCV For those who were born before 1965, those with impaired hepatic function, intravenous drug users, blood and coagulation factors, dialysis patients should be screened.

If it is found to be in active disease stage, it is possible to prevent bad results and to get rid of the disease completely with effective and easy to adapt treatments for both diseases.
